Sex and the Religious experience

In thinking about the relation of sex and the religious experience I have come to the conclusion that there is very little difference. Now to qualify this I have to say that as a guy of course I'm thinking about sex, but reviewing my religious experience I have found most of the 'emotions' that people feel with God are the same as those that are experienced in sexual encounters. Now that is not to say that a person experiences an orgasm with God. But who know since some ancients referred to the religious experience as "ectacy". In the process of the religious experience a person experience all the same emotions so in pentecostalism you could argue that the experience is nothing but pent up sexual energy that is finding relese in god. This is especially true when you listen to the language that is used to speak of God and peoples relationship with him. Such things as "lover of my soul" are quite common and there are more numerous ones to count. All o

Religious experience

Being that I have had the last several days off from work, it has alowed my mind to start wandering upon the changes that my religious life has experienced in the past year. Last year I was of more of a evangelical base, but now I have swung to being more liberal. When thinking on this I began to think on religious experience. When I was of an evangelical base my religious experience was that of pentecostalism. In pentecostalism the ephasis is placed upon Gods working and movement in spiritual lives now. What has changed for me is that I don't belive that. Now its not that I don't belive that God works and moves now, in fact I do, just very differently than what pentecostals or other experiental religions would belive. Religious experience has now become to me experienceing God in nature or at the wonder of creation. This is not a wiccan or pagan idea of god in nature. But the awe inspiring beautey that is seen in nature. I expereince this through the scientific unde

The purpose of this Blog

I have now decided that the more serious post such as the one previous to this will be posted on a friends web blog, www.liberalreligion.com, this blog will be a place for me to rant, and just speak my mind however it comes to me. Most of it will be centered around god, religion, politics, but this will also allow me to express feelings about music, life, and everything elses in general. So for anyone looking you will be seeing some post from my day to day also while i fool around with the blog figuring out how all of this works.

Memes: Evolutionary Godsend or our Death?

In the book Lucifer Principal Author Howard Bloom goes into some basic thoughts on the presence of ‘evil’ in the world and how what is perceived to be evil is in a lot of cases evolutionary necessity. While he was speaking on evil he also spoke on the concept of memes and their preeminence in the evolutionary structure of today. No longer is evolution entirely decided on the basis of genetic sufficiency but on the perceived meme. (Evidence for this can be seen in numerous marriages today, even my own being that I am genetically partly deaf but still married. I can say that my wife didn’t marry me for my genetic perfection, being that I am not genetically perfect, so why did she marry me? That is a meme working to see past the genetic insufficiencies.) When the concept of competing memes is taken into account you begin to see their workings on an everyday scale. There are currently two memes today that are influencing every aspect of our lives as well as the evolu
