What a time

I haven't been able to post much over the last several weeks, this is a combination of several reasons primarily being that I've been working a lot at the printing plant, so I've been unable to to much reflection for blogging purposes. The other reason is because when I get a day off I spend it doing things with my family rather than on the computer. In the past several weeks I've had several other interviews at various church's and I still have another one this week. Hopefully soon I will be working with a church full time.

This past Friday I went on long weekend, I came off of midnight shift and I am going back in today at 3 for work. So my wife and I took advantage of this and went to see the Harry Potter movie. It wasn't bad but there were a few details I wish they would have included. The graphics and the acting were far better than they used to be, in my opinion that is.

Then on Sunday we took my daughter to the ocean for the first time. This solidified the fact that she is a water baby. She had no problems getting into the water, and even when a wave caught her and threw her down she still got up and ran back in. It was a great day. And heres a pic to show the fun she was having.

I'll do my best to keep this updated but until I get a job that makes putting the time aside feasible then unfortunately this blog will be taking a lower place on the line.

Wes, You have been on my mind and in my prayers. I hope a job in ministry comes soon for you. It sounds like you are getting valuable experience working with the common man for seeing the world as they see it which will help you in a church setting. Say hi to your family for me. Cheryl

Theology vs. Scripture

I've been doing some thinking. I've been apart of and have been watching the discussion taking place on Locust and Honey on the General conference. I did post some statements but recently a relatively short discussion on homosexuality has surfaced. Now this is a hot button issue for pretty much everyone but there were a few issues I had with the various points that were given, as well as some thoughts on what is happening in the church right now around this issue. First off, I was struck by the insistence that the church needs to be open and affirming. I am not making any claims on whether this is right or wrong but the church has never in its history been an "open and affirming" organization. This is just a statement of fact, and I find it quite interesting that most people claim that the Methodist church needs to be open and affirming when I believe that John Wesley would not have been. Scripture: 1 Kings 19:1-13 Central Verse: “…but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence.
